Our Tour Guide Massoud collected us from our hotel, Kohan Traditional Hotel. He
had a big, old 4WD LandCruiser. The desert is just around the corner of Yazd, so it didn't take long to get to the middle of it. A person called Ali was waiting there with the camels. Dad and I went on one and Mum went on the other. It was difficult getting on as they are very tall. They kneel down and then you hopped on their back. Massoud had to pick me up and put me on it. You have to lean back as it gets it's back legs up and lean forward when it gets it's front legs up. The process is very bumpy, you have to hold on tight. I suppose it is a bit like riding a horse. You have to go with it. When it goes forward, you go forward, when it goes back, when it lifts it's back legs of the ground you have to lean back. Mums camel kept taking her through bushes. Our camel was in the lead, and mums camel didn't like that.
